The CIA-2 unit of the district police has arrested two persons allegedly for online betting on an IPL match here on Tuesday night.
Inspector Deepak Kumar said that on a tip-off, a team led by SI Bhimsen raided a home of one Yashpal near Bhulbhullaya chowk in Wadhava Ram Colony. The team arrested two persons — Yashpal, alias Yash, the house owner, and Kamal of Model Town here.
The team recovered 36 mobile phones which were being used for betting. They were luring people to bet on IPL matches by telling them that they were calling from government-approved phone lines, the police said.
The accused were produced in the court which sent them to three-day police custody, the police said.
