Steps taken to purchase ambulances, high court told

SHIMLA: The state has arranged 20 new ambulances whereas 26 are likely to be arranged within two weeks. This was stated on behalf of the state government before the high court during the course of hearing on a public interest litigation pertaining to providing 108/102 emergency ambulance services in the state.

The state has arranged 20 new ambulances whereas 26 are likely to be arranged within two weeks. This was stated on behalf of the state government before the high court during the course of hearing on a public interest litigation pertaining to providing 108/102 emergency ambulance services in the state.

The court was further informed by the counsel for the state that an e-tender has also been issued for 100 new ambulances. In its earlier order, the court had directed the state to take up the matter with the Centre regarding replacement of ambulances. The court had also directed the authorities to make necessary arrangements to provide emergency health services on all the national/state highways/roads in the state.

After hearing the matter, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Sandeep Sharma further directed the state to file status reports. —OC
