Three miscreants in Sriganganagar have been arrested and a police head constable placed under suspension in connection with inhumane treatment meted out to Mahabir (20) of Kot Ise Khan of Moga district.

Makhan Lal of Kot Ise Khan alleged that six miscreants intercepted his son Mahabir, who had gone to Sriganganagar from Jalandhar on April 13. When Mahabir visited the Purani Abadi police station to complain about the incident, head constable Subhash Chander booked and detained him under Section 151 of the CrPC under pressure from the miscreants who were reportedly chasing him.

As the incident drew attention of social media, Superintendent of Police Hemant Sharma took told ASP Surinder Singh Rathore to investigate. On the basis of his report and complaint filed by Makhan Lal, head constable Subhash Chander has been placed under suspension.

A case has been registered under Sections 365, 342, 182, 143 and 500 of the IPC. Shanker, alias Gulab Chand, Rahul and Sahil were arrested on Sunday. A court today remanded them in judicial custody. Efforts to nab rest of the miscreants were on, the police said.
