“Exercising the right to vote ethically would be the real tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution,” said the Deputy Commissioner of Nawanshahr, Vinay Bublani, while presiding over the district-level function organised at the KC Group of Institutes to commemorate the 128th birth anniversary of Babasaheb.
“Dr Ambedkar was a great visionary and wanted a democratic India having social and economic equality. These principles are associated with the right to vote. Hence, if we want to translate the philosophy and ideology of Dr Ambedkar into reality, then it is our utmost duty to exercise the right to vote ethically and judiciously,” the DC further said, while exhorting all sections of society, especially the youth, to take a pledge to cast their vote on May 19.
“By exercising the right to vote, we can protect our constitutional rights as well as ensure the progress of the country,” he said.
Social workers Sokhi Ram Bajjon and Birbal Takhi and District Welfare Officer Rajinder Kumar delivered lectures to highlight the life, philosophy and Dr Ambedkar’s contribution towards enacting the Constitution to realise the dream of setting up democracy, secularism, social and economic equality in independent India.
Under the SVEEP activity, a quiz on topics like elections and the life of Dr BR Ambedkar was also organised and prizes awarded to the students who excelled in the competition. — TNS
