Carrying of firearms prohibited in city

JALANDHAR: To ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in the city, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Parambir Singh Parmar has banned the carrying of firearms by licence holders.

To ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in the city, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Parambir Singh Parmar has banned the carrying of firearms by licence holders.

Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the Deputy Commissioner of Police said carrying of weapons in the city had been prohibited in the jurisdiction of the Police Commissionerate.

The orders will not apply to Army personnel, paramilitary forces, police officials/employees and others who have been given permission by the competent authority.

The orders will remain in force till May 27, 2019.
