Srinagar, April 14

The National Conference (NC) president and the party’s candidate for the Srinagar constituency, Farooq Abdullah, on Sunday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah as the “biggest enemies” of people.

Farooq, while addressing a rally in the interiors of Dal Lake here, said the two leaders believed in dividing the nation “on the basis of caste, creed and religion".

“These people want to change the framework of the Constitution of India, which grants equal rights and opportunities to everyone. It is the Constitution of India which grants rights to profess any faith,” he said.

“The other day the BJP came out with its manifesto which explicitly reflects the hatred BJP has for the identity of our state. They have vowed to do away with the provisions of Articles 370 and 35A in the manifesto,” he said.

Farooq said the “sole agenda” of Modi and Shah was to “change the demography of our state”. “However let me tell them that they are playing with fire. To meet this purpose, they have employed various henchmen in our state, such cronies can be seen holding ink pot and apple in their hands. The sole aim of the BJP and its cronies was to make non state subjects buy land and property in our state,” he said.

Meanwhile, National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah also accused the Prime Minister, who vowed to rid the state of its political families, of not walking the talk by forming a government with the Mufti family.
