Srinagar, April 14

The authorities in the Valley have written to the J&K Police to make a list of youth with negative track record, starting from Srinagar district, to be taken for counselling and on country-wide tours.

In a written communication from the district administration, Srinagar, to the police, it has been stated that they had decided to start counselling centres for youth.

“With reference to the above-mentioned subject, the district administration, Srinagar, has decided to establish counselling centres and organise country-wide tours for the youth of Srinagar, who are intermediate dropouts or have a negative track record,” read the letter.

The administration has asked the police to provide them with a list of youth who hold a bad track record, along with recommendation of initiatives to be taken. The J&K Police have written to its zonal senior superintendent of police in Srinagar district to provide a list of such youth at the earliest.

The officials said the police was also planning to start de-radicalisation centres. “This initiative is for those who sometimes get influenced by radical ideologies. They will be counselled and brought back to the mainstream,” an official said.—TNS
