Mumbai, April 14

Around 1,100 pilots belonging to the National Aviator’s Guild (NAG) of crisis-hit Jet Airways today deferred their “no flying” call to a later date, particularly when the management is scheduled to meet the lenders on Monday.

This comes amid airlines suspending its operations in SAARC and ASEAN regions indefinitely, besides extending suspension of its services to Toronto and Paris from Chennai and back. The airline has also cancelled its long-haul, west-bound operations to and from Amsterdam, London Heathrow, and Paris till tomorrow.

The pilots, along with engineers and senior management, have not received salaries since January. The debt-ridden carrier has also not paid the March salary to employees of other categories as well.

Earlier in the day, the guild, which claims representation of 1,100 of the total 1,600 pilots, decided to stop flying from April 15 to protest non-payment of salaries since March. The NAG had in late March called for no flying from

April 1 over non-payment of salaries, but deferred the agitation to April 15. — PTI
