Srinagar, April 13

The Mughal Gardens were formally thrown open for public here on Saturday. The state administration hoped that a good number of tourists, both national and local, would visit the gardens in the summer.

During a function organised by the floriculture department at Shalimar Garden here, Director Abdul Hafiz Shah said the Mughal gardens in north and south Kashmir had also been thrown open on Saturday.

The Mughal gardens are thrown open on Baisakhi. A large number of locals and tourists visited the Mughal gardens in Srinagar. Schoolchildren were also seen at the gardens.

The department had organised cultural events at some of the gardens for entertaining the tourists. — TNS
