Chandigarh, April 11

A local court today sent a father-son duo to four years of imprisonment in a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and under the SC/ST Act.

The convicts have been identified as Rony Sharma and his father Sanjeev Sharma, both residents of Panchkula.

In a complaint to the police, Vijay Kumar, a resident of Panchkula, had stated that on July 14, 2015, he, along with his driver Rohtash, was going towards Sector 34 in Chandigarh in car. When they reached near Nirankari Bhawan, a Tata Safari being driven by Rony Sharma with his father Sanjeev Sharma as co-passenger abused Rohtash while overtaking their car. When Rohtash tried to stop them, both of them came out of their car and pull him out of his car. The father-son duo then rained blows on Rohtash and also kicked him in the stomach.

After Rohtash was rescued from the accused with the help of passersby, he told Vijay that he was having a severe pain in stomach and heart and he dropped him at his home. Later, Rohtash’s family members took him to the Sector 6 hospital but he died on the way.

A case was registered against Rony Sharma and Sanjeev Sharma at the Mani Majra police station.
