New Delhi: Gujjar quota agitation leader Kirori Singh Bainsla and his son Vijay Bainsla on Wednesday joined the BJP in the presence of the party’s Rajasthan-in-charge Prakash Javadekar. “I have seen rarest of rare qualities in PM Modi and that’s why I am joining the BJP,” Kirori Singh Bainsla said adding he was inspired by the PM’s style of working. Bainsla also said he has been close to chief ministers of both parties-the BJP and the Congress-and had seen their ideologies. “After seeing two parties closely, I am joining the BJP,” he said. This is the second time he is joining the BJP. In 2009 he contested on a BJP ticket from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur constituency but lost to Congress candidate. TNS
Notification for 5th phase of Lok Sabha polls issued
New Delhi: The Election Commission on Wednesday issued notification for the fifth phase of LS elections to be held on May 5 in 51 seats across seven states. In this phase, the least number of constituencies are going for polls as compared to other phases. The seven-phase elections begins April 11 and will end on May 19. UP, Bihar and West Bengal will head for voting in all the seven phases of the general elections. The election will pit the BJP-led NDA against mostly different opposition groupings in various states, including of Congress, the Left and regional forces which are continuing to work out a grand alliance to minimise a division of votes against the saffron party.
