The HP High Court has directed the state government to maintain status quo on the issue of colour of police cap.

Justice CB Barowalia passed this interim order on a petition filed by the HP Police Welfare Association challenging the decision of the police authorities to change the colour of police cap from blue to khakhi.

It was contended on behalf of the petitioner association that the state government had issued a notification on February 12 whereby it had decided to change the colour of the cap from blue to khakhi. It was further contended that this decision of the state would affect more than 15,000 (fifteen thousand) police men, who are against the move. Presently, the colour of police cap is blue.

After hearing the matter the court directed the authorities to maintain status quo on the issue till the next date of hearing and file its reply within three weeks. The court listed the matter for further hearing on May 6.
