Chandigarh: Three auto riders have been arrested for robbing a Kishangarh resident of his purse containing cash and documents. The police said the victim, Suresh Thapa, was robbed while he was returning home on the intervening night of April 8 and 9 when he was robbed near Chandigarh Golf club.  The victim noted down the registration number of the auto and immediately informed the police about the incident. Cops flashed a wireless message to all PCR teams, following which a PCR team found the auto. The suspects, identified as Pintu (23) and Amit Gautam (22), both brothers and one Deshraj (23), were arrested. A case has been registered at the Sector 26 police station. TNS

Thieves strike at factory 

Chandigarh: A theft was reported from a factory in Industrial Area, Phase I. According to the police, the complainant, Sanjeev Jain, reported that some unknown persons stole a laptop, a DVR, four CCTV cameras, a dongle, a phone and a computer tab from his factory on the intervening night of April 7 and 8. The police were informed about the incident, following which a case has been registered at the Industrial Area police station. TNS

Man held with poppy husk

Ambala: The CIA, Naraingarh, arrested a man and recovered 1.60 quintal of poppy husk from him in Naraingarh on Monday night. The suspect has been identified as Ravinder, a resident of Himachal Pradesh. The CIA conducted a raid after it got a tip-off that a canter containing a huge quantity of drugs was parked near Ruchra factory. During checking, four plastic bags stuffed with poppy husk weighing around 1.60 quintals were seized from the vehicle. A case has been registered under Sections 15 and 61 of the NDPS Act at the Naraingarh police station. In-charge CIA Naraingarh Kewal Singh said: “The suspect was produced before a court, which sent him to three-day police remand.” TNS

Behlana youth goes missing

Mohali: A 19-year-old youth has been missing from Behlana village for the past four days. According to the police, victim Dheeraj Kumar, a native of Bihar, who runs a juice stall in Behlana, went missing on April 5. The victim’s mobile phone is switched off since then. His uncle filed a missing complaint with the police following which a daily diary report (DDR) has been lodged at the Sector 31 police station. An investigation has been initiated. TNS
