Abohar: A high-velocity dust storm affected many trees in rural area in the Abohar sub-division during on Monday. An old tree that fell near the Patel Park in Sukhera Basti here damaged the boundary wall of a dispensary that the local Municipal Council had closed last year. The projection of residential house located behind the dispensary building also collapsed. However, there was no casualty. OC

Villagers block road

Muktsar: A day after a 25-year-old boy's death due to alleged overdose of a drug, residents of Maha Badhar village near here blocked the Panniwala-Muktsar road for two hours on Monday. They sought action against a villager who had reportedly taken the boy away. The police assured the protesters that action would be taken after the post-mortem report is received, after which the blockade was lifted. TNS

3 held for vandalism

Abohar: The police arrested Anil Kumar, "Petha" and "AD" in connection with a case registered for vandalising a place of worship here. They were sent to jail by a court here. They had set ablaze religious pictures and other material in Abohar. The site is located close to the divisional office complex of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited here. OC 

Rs 80,000 looted 

Abohar: Some masked men looted Rs 80,000 and a mobile phone from the owner of a tractor-trailer at a fuel station outside Alamgarh village on the Abohar-Sriganganagar road on Sunday. Prithvi Raj of Sriganganagar said three bikers intercepted his vehicle as he halted to get fuel filled. They allegedly threw red chilli powder in his eyes and took away his cash and phone. OC
