Bathinda, April 7
Security arrangements at the Bathinda Central Jail have once again come under the scanner following the recovery of a mobile phone from the jail premises. A checking was carried out by the jail authorities on Saturday. The jail assistant superintendent, in a complaint filed at the Cantonment police station, stated that the authorities launched a search operation and recovered a mobile phone from inside the jail. Investigating Officer Lachman Singh said a case had been registered against Binder Singh, a resident of Nangal Khurd village, under Section 188 of the IPC and Section 52-A of the Jail Manual Act on the basis of a complaint lodged by the jail authorities. Sources said cell phones helped criminals threaten witnesses, besides making plans to escape from the jail. — TNS
