Bumrah joins MI for practice session, but doesn’t bowl

Bengaluru

Jasprit Bumrah, who’s recovering from a shoulder injury, on Tuesday joined his IPL team Mumbai Indians’ practice session, but did not bowl at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. He did not travel with his MI teammates on Monday but flew in here separately on Tuesday. Bumrah was seen running along with his teammates for nearly 20 minutes and he looked in fine fettle. He also participated in a catching drill with Anmol Singh. He took chest-high as well as low catches and threw the ball with ease. Bumrah, however, did not bowl at the nets.

SLC clears Malinga to play IPL

Lasith Malinga has been cleared to play the remainder of the IPL season after his country’s cricket board granted the paceman permission to skip the domestic 50-overs tournament. Selectors had earlier made it mandatory for Sri Lanka players to participate in the Super Provincial One-Day Tournament if they want to be considered for the May 30-July 14 Cricket World Cup in England and Wales. However, Sri Lanka Cricket said they have decided to release the fast bowler as he would benefit from opportunity to play with “much stronger opposition in the IPL tournament". — Agencies
