SIT produces ASI in Faridkot court

FARIDKOT: To negate the claim of some senior police officers that there was no incident of firing at Kotkapura on October 14, 2015, the SIT on Tuesday produced an ASI in a local court.

To negate the claim of some senior police officers that there was no incident of firing at Kotkapura on October 14, 2015, the SIT on Tuesday produced an ASI in a local court.

The SIT got the statement of the ASI recorded before the court, who claimed that there was a scuffle between protesters and the police at Kotkapura, followed by firing by the police and there was a CCTV footage of this incident.

In his statement before Justice Ranjit Singh Commission, Jagdish Singh, the ASI, had stated that after the use of water cannons, there was some altercation between the public and the police.

Jaswinder Singh had claimed that that there was firing at the chowk where hundreds of persons were protesting against the sacrilege incidents. Jaswinder claimed to have had seen the CCTV footage of the altercation and firing at the spot.

Earlier, many senior police officers, including suspended IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal, had stated before the commission that no footage of the cameras was available.
