Srinagar, March 26

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said if voted to power, the party would revoke the ban on the Jamaat-e-Islami.

The party also offered legal assistance to the Jamaat and the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), which have been declared unlawful associations and banned by the Centre.

At a party rally in Baramulla on Tuesday, Mehbooba hit out at the Centre’s “iron fist” policy and said “by turning J&K into a prison, the Kashmir issue will not disappear”.

The PDP chief said all political forces in the state should come together to safeguard the special constitutional status of J&K.

The Baramulla Lok Sabha seat is going to polls on April 11. —TNS
