Ludhiana, March 25

The Northern Railway Pensioners Welfare Association slammed the railway authorities for not addressing their grievances. During the 22nd AGM of the Association held here, the pensioners strongly condemned the railway authority and the Central Government for not paying heed to their pending demands.

Sher Singh, chairman, Northern Railway Pensioners Welfare Association, said, “We have sent numerous reminders to the DRM Ferozepur Division, General Manager, Railway Minister and PM Narendra Modi about revising the PPOs of pre 2016 to all the pensioners. However, 30-40 per cent of the pensioners are still waiting for the revised PPOs to get their arrears and revised enhanced pensions.”

He said the pensioners have not got any positive response from the railway authorities to date.

TB Singh, president, Northern Railway Pensioners Welfare Association said, “Staff of diesel shed, railway station staff, engineering staff, line staff and pensioners along with their families are attached with the health unit. Howvere, there are no specialist doctors at the hospitals.”

He said, “Patients are sent to Ferozepur in order to get treatment for various ailments. The health unit at Ludhiana should be upgraded.”

General secretary BR Dhawan said as there were around four to five thousand pensioners residing in the city, there should be a Railway Bhawan in Ludhiana.
