Paul Casey became the first player to successfully defend his Valspar Championship title when he secured a hard-fought one-stroke win over Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Kokrak in Florida. Overnight leader Casey eked out a 1-over-par 72 in the final round, which was good enough to fend off his rivals in demanding, breezy and firm conditions at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor. Anirban Lahiri shot a 3-under on the final day to climb 27 places and finish tied-30th.

After Pak’s two losses to Oz, Sarfraz says, don’t panic

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed says there is no need to panic despite national’s side’s consecutive defeats against Australia in the ODI series since they still have a lot of time to prepare for the World Cup. “The World Cup is a tough competition because of the format this time but we have done our preparations and we will have time to finalise our plans when we go to England. We will also play an ODI series against England and some practice games as well,” said Ahmed.  Ahmed and five other players have been rested from the ODIs in the UAE. Ahmed recently led the Quetta Gladiators to Pakistan Super League title victory. The skipper on Saturday wore a Pakistan Army uniform to celebrate the Gladiators’ title win at a special ceremony organised by the Balochistan government. — AGENCIES
