The DC, Shaleen, said on Monday that special police nakas would be put up on main roads in the district to check unauthorised transportation of wheat and mustard from other states, including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, during the forthcoming procurement season.
He was reviewing the arrangements made for the procurement of wheat and mustard crops here at a meeting of officials, representatives of purchasing agencies and commission agents.
He said the purchase of mustard would be started from March 28 at the Sonepat grain market and would continue up to April 20. Similarly, wheat procurement would be started from April 1 at the Sonepat, Gohana, Gannaur and Kharkhoda grain markets and 18 purchase centres in the district.
He said of around 5 lakh metric tonnes wheat estimated to arrive in the district. — TNS
