Hisar, March 21
The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) suffered a setback on Thursday as its MLA from Nalwa, Hisar, Ranbir Gangwa joined the BJP.
Gangwa was elected as member of Rajya Sabha in 2010 on an INLD ticket. The party, however, fielded him as candidate from Nalwa assembly segment in 2014 which he won by defeating Haryana Janhit Congress candidate Chander Mohan.
He joined the BJP in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala.
Welcoming him, Khattar praised Gangwa for his rich experience in politics and being a ground-worker.
“He (Gangwa) is a worker connected to people on the ground. He is from OBC community and holds a good reputation in the community,” Khattar said.
Gangwa said it became difficult to remain in INLD as factionalism plagued the party.
The polling for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana will be held on May 12. The seven-phase Lok Sabha elections will conclude on May 19 and the counting of votes will take place on May 23.
