Bathinda, March 20
“Females have equal rights in all domains of society irrespective of which section of society they belong to. Women should always learn to raise their voice against issues such as domestic violence and gender equality not only when injustice is being done to them, but also when it is being done to females around them,” this was stated by Chhavi Goyal, resource person on UN Women and World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) on the concluding day of the three-day workshop at Nehru Memorial College.
The workshop was held under ‘Poshan Abhiyaan’ and ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign. She spoke on various issues, including stopping the gender-based violence, gender inequality and menstrual hygiene. During the three-day interactive workshop, she interacted with girls and answered their queries on all issues. She also held hands on session on making indigenous sanitary pads.
Aditya Madaan, a speaker, said ‘Poshan Pakhwada’ (nutrition fortnight) was being observed in the district from March 8 to 22.— TNS
