New Delhi, March 20
The CBI has arrested an executive director in the Airports Authority of India (AAI), G Ravi Chandran, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from the owner of an airport ground handling company, the agency said.
Ravichandran, Executive Director (Finance), had allegedly demanded of Rs 2 lakh for each allotted tenders to the company for 'D' category airports. The company owner did not want to pay the bribe. He approached the CBI with a complaint against the officer, the CBI said.
Based on his inputs, the CBI laid a trap this morning when the alleged bribe was to be paid to Ravichandran.
The CBI nabbed the officer receiving Rs 2 lakh as bribe.
Searches are being conducted at the premises of accused at Delhi and Chennai. — TNS
