Jalandhar, March 20

Following the release of a ‘sting video’ shown by a TV channel allegedly showing Jalandhar Congress MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh ‘making a deal for supporting some businessmen or contractors in lieu of arranging elections funds for him’, MLA and SAD spokesperson Pawan Tinu today demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

Tinu has also demanded his arrest and lodging a criminal case against him.

Tinu said if the Jalandhar MP felt that he had been wrongly defamed by a doctored video, he or his team of six MLAs from the district or his party chief should at least come forward and face the queries of the media on the matter.

“Why has the Congress leadership gone silent on the matter?” he questioned.

Tinu said the counter-allegations by the MP, that the sting had been conducted by a BJP-sponsored channel does not hold any weight, as a BJP MP has himself nailed in another sting video shown on the same day.

Tinu, who was accompanied by Phillaur MLA Baldev Khaira and party leaders Baljeet Singh Neelamahal and Seth Satpal Mal said: “Since the BJP leadership has come out and condemned the act of its MP, a similar line of action is expected from the Congress too.”

Meanwhile, Chaudhary Santokh Singh is learnt to have planned a show of strength at his place tomorrow on the occasion of ‘Holi’. He has invited all local party MLAs, leaders and workers at his place to celebrate the festival.

Jalandhar West MLA Sushil Rinku, who is also is a claimant of Lok Sabha ticket, said: “I have neither been invited nor will I participate in the festivities. We have recently lost our CRPF jawans in Pulwama and it does not behove of us to make merriment like that.”
