Chandigarh, March 20
Dr Navneet Arora, Associate Professor of Sociology at the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), PU, has been awarded a grant of Rs 10 lakh to conduct research work under the IMPRESS (Impactful Policy Research in Social Science) Scheme, an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource and Development.
Arora’s project on ‘Obsession of Children with Digi Screens: A study into Social and Health Effects of Electronic Media’, under the ‘Media Culture and Society’ domain, delves into social and health effects of digital screens and electronic media on toddlers, pre-schoolers, kids and teenagers.
“Since there’s no regulation on the time limit to which a child could be exposed to screens, over-indulgence is making the young generation dependent on varieties of media and they are compromising on their social and health aspects,” she said. — TNS
