The Kul Hind Kissan Sabha, Punjab, has demanded from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) construction a flyover between Gurdwara Nanaksar and Dumax Milk Plant located on the Ludhiana-Ferozepur highway.

Kul Hind Kissan Sabha has submitted its demand regarding the construction of flyover to the National Highways Authority of India through the Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner.

Representatives of farmers’ organisations said there was a huge need for constructing a flyover between Gurdwara Nanaksar and Dumax Milk Plant on the highway.

“It is necessary to construct the flyover at this location as farmers and the people belonging to various villages located on the Jagraon-Galib-Kokri Kalan link road have to cover a long distance in order to reach Jagraon in absence of flyover. To avoid covering more distance, people often drive their vehicles on the wrong side of the highway, which might lead to accidents,” said Avtar Singh Gill, cashier of Kul Hind Kissan Sabha.

Members of the sabha said the National Highways Authority failed to notice the need for constructing the flyover at this place when it conducted the inspection before undertaking the project of upgrading the highway.

“Farmers of more than two dozen villages visiting the Jagraon grain market are affected by the absence of flyover at this location. The construction of the flyover will not only solve the problems of the farmers, it will also reduce the risk of accidents on the highway,” said Avtar Singh.
