The Election Commission (EC) in a statement today prohibited using caste and religion during election campaign. Temples, mosques, churches, gurdwaras and other religious places are not allowed to be used as places for election propaganda, including speeches, poster, music, ect., on electioneering.
The EC also said no political, religious leaders and any other person is allowed to indulge in any activity which would aggravate existing differences or create mutual hatred or cause tension between different castes or communities, religious or linguistic.
The EC has also launched a mobile aap called ‘c vigil’to enable citizens to report any violation of the Model Code of Conduct by submitting a photo or video of such violation.
