Man gets 6-yr jail in quota stir case

SONEPAT: A man was awarded six-year jail by Additional District and Sessions Judge Ashwani Kumar for destroying police records, damaging property and violating government orders during the 2016 Jat reservation stir.

A man was awarded six-year jail by Additional District and Sessions Judge Ashwani Kumar for destroying police records, damaging property and violating government orders during the 2016 Jat reservation stir. A fine of Rs 57,000 was also imposed on him.

Manoj of Rohtak district was booked on the complaint of Kuldeep Singh, in charge of the Barota police post, with 30-40 others.

Kuldeep Singh had said around 3 am on February 21, 2016, Manoj and others broke open the doors of the police post, burnt records, damaged police property, obstructed cops from performing duty, and violated orders under Section 144.

Others arrested in the case were acquitted in absence of evidence. — OC
