Three persons had a miraculous escape when a leopard attacked them in a dense forest while the trio was grazing livestock in Rajouri district.

The police said the three had gone to the forest situated in the vicinity of Barmandal village along with their cattle when the incident took place.

“All three had a tough time while saving themselves from the repeated attacks of the leopard and received grievous injuries,” said sources. However, they were rescued by villagers later, sources said.

The victims have been identified as Mohammad Javaid, a resident of Barmandal, Mohammad Gafoor and Mohammad Gulzar, both residents of Soom village.

They were later taken to the public health centre at Tatapani and are stable. The police said on being chased by villagers with sticks, the leopard disappeared in the forest.
