LS poll: DC holds review meeting

To take stock of the preparations ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Bathinda Deputy Commissioner conducted a meeting with nodal officers in the district. The DC instructed officials of different departments to ensure fair elections and also reviewed preparations made so far.

Addressing officials of different departments, Deputy Commissioner Praneet said, “There is no need to fear and officials concerned of different departments must fulfil their responsibilities by doing their work diligently and honestly.”

The deputy commissioner reviewed the progress made by different committees with regard to the Lok Sabha elections.

The election tehsildars were instructed to ensure training to the presiding officers and assist presiding officers before March 31 to make sure that nobody should face any difficulty at a later stage.

The Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer said in view of the Lok Sabha elections, the model code of conduct had come into effect on Sunday and it must be duly followed by everyone.

Bathinda SDM Amarinder Singh Tiwana said, “The work of removing hoardings and posters of different political parties has already been started and it must be completed soon.”

The discussion regarding the committees of EVM, ballot papers, law and order, expenses committee, helpline numbers 1950 related activities were also held during the meeting.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Gurpreet Singh Thind, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu, Regional Transport Authority Secretary Udaydeep Singh Sidhu, Tehsildar (elections) Bharat Bhusan, District Education Officer Baljit Kumar, principal of ITI Rupinder Kaur and district information officer Sandeep Gupta attended the meeting.
