Notification to be issued on April 16

Chandigarh, March 11

The notification for the May 12 Lok Sabha in Haryana will be issued on April 16 and the  last date for filing nomination papers  will be  April 23.

 Joint Chief Electoral Officer  Inder Jeet said the documents would be scrutinised on April 24 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers  would be  April 26. The counting of votes would be held on May 23.

He said the  photo electoral rolls prepared on the basis of January 1, 2019,  as qualifying date and  published on January 31, along with the supplements prepared under continuous updation thereafter will be used. 

“Currently,  there are 19, 425 polling stations  in the state, including 5,494 in urban and 13,931 in rural areas,” he said. He said electronic voting machines (EVMs) with VVPATs will be used in all polling stations in the state. — TNS
