No let-up in rain, snow; state shivers

SHIMLA: Most parts of Himachal had no respite from biting cold wave conditions as strong velocity icy winds lashed the state and high-altitude tribal areas received the fresh snowfall and mid and lower hills had scattered rain.

Most parts of Himachal had no respite from biting cold wave conditions as strong velocity icy winds lashed the state and high-altitude tribal areas received the fresh snowfall and mid and lower hills had scattered rain.

Sky remained heavily overcast in Shimla and surrounding areas and icy winds swept the region. The state capital received 2 mm rain while Kalpa recorded 9 cm of fresh snowfall and Manali was the wettest in the region with 17 mm rain.

The minimum temperature stayed below normal and Keylong and Kalpa recorded a low of minus 8 and minus 3 degree, followed by Manali 3.4 degree, Shimla 5.7 degree, Dharamsala 5.8 degree, Solan 7 degree, Nahan 7.4 degree, Bhuntar 8.4 degree, Palampur 9 degree and Una 11.4 degree C.

Keylong and Kalpa shivered under freezing cold wave condition with the maximum temperature staying at minus 2 degree and zero degree while Manali recorded a high of 5.8 degree, followed by Shimla 9.8 degree, Dharamsala 12.2 degree, Sundernagar 12.8 degree, Bhuntar 13 degree, Solan 13.5 degree, Palampur 15.5 degree, Nahan 16.1 degree and Una 20.3 degree

The local MeT office has warned of thundershowers accompanied by hails in lower and mid hills tomorrow and rain or snow in mid and higher hills and rain and thundershowers at isolated places in lower hills on March 3 and 4.
