Expansion of airport apron area

Union Civil Aviation Minister inaugurated the expansion of the apron area at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport via video-conferencing here on Friday.

Lok Sabha MP Gurjeet Sngh Aujla, Rajya Sabha MP Shwait Malik, Congress (Urban) president Jatinder Sonia, and airport director Manoj Chansoria were present.

Aujla said that with the expansion, 25 aircrafts could be parked. With the initiatives of government, the airport has witnessed an increase in the footfall of passengers. We are now focusing on strengthening the infrastructure at the airport.

Aujla said the government would spend Rs 96.15 crore on the expansion of the apron and the work would be completed till November 2019.

The MP said the upgrade of the airport would boost the economy of the state. The government is making effort to export vegetables by air.
