UPSC holds meeting to ‘finalise’ panel for DGP

CHANDIGARH: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) held a meeting in New Delhi on Friday to ‘finalise’ a panel of three officers for appointment as the state’s next Director General of Police (DGP) in accordance with guidelines of the Supreme Court.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) held a meeting in New Delhi on Friday to ‘finalise’ a panel of three officers for appointment as the state’s next Director General of Police (DGP) in  accordance with guidelines of the Supreme Court.

Haryana Chief Secretary DS Dhesi attended the meeting. Though Dhesi could not be contacted, sources said the panel would be sent to the state government soon. 

The state had reportedly sent to the UPSC the names of 12 senior IPS officers last month for preparing a panel of three officers. The 12 officers are Parminder Rai (1982 batch), SS Deswal (1984), KP Singh and K Selvaraj (1985), BK Sinha, KK Sandhu and PR Deo (1986), KK Mishra (1987), Manoj Yadava and PK Agarwal (1988) and Mohammad Akil and RC Mishra (1989). Parminder Rai retired on January 31. — TNS
