I too have a unique love story

Love makes the world go round and come right back to where it blossoms, a la butterflies in the stomach, flowers, pizza dates, candle-light dinners.

Love makes the world go round and come right back to where it blossoms, a la butterflies in the stomach, flowers, pizza dates, candle-light dinners. Fashion designer Rohit Verma minces no words but at the same time doesn’t beat about drum rolls when it comes to matters of the heart.

“After all, love is all about trust, loyalty and respect,” he questions, “what has sex or gender got to do with it?”  Those stuck on societal mores and fumbling for the right words, need not even bother as Rohit rests the case, “You take out my heart and you take out anybody’s heart and see if it has a gender.” Then why should matters of the heart do?

As ace fashion designer Suneet Verma rightly said during an interview to a magazine, “I haven’t done anything brave. I just married my lover.”  His love story like any other, with one happy ending and the one that started with a blind date.

Not everyone has it that easy, much like the beautiful feeling of love, the challenges of love remain and sometimes even end in tragedy.  But most of all, the true blue feelings.

Laughs Jainnu Kanwar, Chandigarh-based trans woman, who had to initially educate people around her before they accepted her.  “Of course, romance is just romance. And like with any other couple comes with the initial highs and what not.” Having been in love for the past three years with a guy, who recently friend zoned her, she now looks forward to moving on. “I recently had my first dance with him,” she almost blushes. But then society does play a spoilsport, as it often does. The only problem is, “that I can’t conceive and that is what made my guy not accept me.”  Hopefully, as fashion fiercely takes to politics, especially all gender equality, things are set to look up. Be it Karl Lagerfeld closing his show with two brides to several icons coming out in the open. Ricky Martin admitted that he, “regretted the extent to which he went to hide his sexuality,” before coming out in the open, marrying his partner and fathering two sons through surrogacy. “We love it. It’s not even for us, it’s for our kids to look at us on the red carpet and say, ‘Ah those are my daddies, how cool!” he once said in the interview.

In sync with any other romantic couple or married couple, shall we say! That is why there are only two words Rohit uses to describe all his former relationships, “They were beautiful and dignified.” Including the one with a very big Bollywood star but hey who’s kissing and telling? Beneath the all glam avatar this fashion designer sports lies a simple salwar kameez-clad girl, who is longing to cook dal chawal for her husband. “Yes, I am like that and all the relationships I have been in were special and respectable.” Once again pretty much like conventional old school love.
