The BSF and the Pakistan Rangers on Tuesday held a Sector Commander-level meeting along the International Border (IB) here.
The meeting was held on the request of Pakistan Rangers from 1130 am to 1 pm in Suchetgarh area.
The BSF delegation comprising 16 officers was led by P S Dhiman, DIG BSF Jammu Sector, and Brig Amjad Mehmud, Sector Commander, Chenab Rangers, Sialkote, led the Pakistan delegation comprising 14 officers.
It was the first Sector Commander-level meeting between two border guarding forces after tension prevailed on Jammu International Border, in Jan 2019.
During meeting, Commanders of both the border guarding forces, inter alia, discussed various issues, including firing on International Border, presence of suspects in border areas and other routine issues related to border management.
It was decided to re-energise instant communication between field commanders, whenever required, to resolve the petty matters.
The meeting was held in a cordial, positive and constructive atmosphere and both sides agreed for expeditious implementation of the decisions taken in the earlier meeting and committed to each other to maintain peace and tranquillity at International Border.
