Perturbed over continuous fleecing of people in parking lots, BJP leader Parminder Mehta has written a letter to Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu to intervene and come to the rescue of general public.

In a letter written to the Minister, the BJP leader wrote that the Municipal Corporation itself was running the parking lot at Multi Storey parking these days. For the parking of vehicle, Rs20 is charged here, whereas near this parking lot and inside the premises of MC Zone-A, a few persons were charging Rs50 as fee.

“How can this be possible without the connivance of MC officials and the mafia? These people are duping the public right under the nose of MC officials, who seem to have turned a blind eye towards it. We have brought this to the notice of Ludhiana Mayor, too, but there seems no improvement as fleecing continues,” Mehta said.

Mehta continued that the private person was duping the public while MC authorities seem to be in deep slumber or they deliberately were not taking action against the people concerned. “They must be having political patronage else the police should have been told and an FIR could have been registered against the illegal parking lot. The corruption in the department comes to the fore as no action is being taken by the authorities,” the BJP leader said.
