Two arrested with 10-kg charas

The Khanna police claimed to have arrested two persons and recovered charas from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Nand Lal and Pintu Kumar Das, both residents of Slopurban village in Bihar.

Khanna DSP Deepak Rai said a police party, on the directions of Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya and led by DSP Manjit Singh and SI Labh Singh of the Narcotics Cell, was present at Lalheri Road, Khanna.

During checking of suspected vehicles, the police witnessed two boys who were coming from Lalheri Road side on foot, carrying a bag.

After seeing the police, they started walking backwards, but on the suspicion the police party stopped them for checking.

On searching of their bag, the police party recovered 10 kg 300 gm charas (wrapped in 19 packets) from their possession.

A case FIR under Sections 20, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Khanna City-1 police station.

The accused will be presented in a court. According to the DSP, the accused had brought this consignment from Bihar and were going towards Ludhiana, but were nabbed on the way.
