Truck driver escapes from spot leaving vehicle behind, booked

Ludhiana, February 11

A tractor driver died after the tractor-trolley he was travelling in collided with a truck near Tibba Road on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Sarabjit Singh (50), a resident of Jandu Singa village, near Aadampur in Jalandhar district.

The tractor-trolley was loaded with sugarcane. As per the information, the accident took place around 9:30 am on Monday, when Sarabjit was going towards a sugar mill to unload the tractor-trolley. According to sources, as soon he reached near Tibba Road, the driver of the truck suddenly applied breaks. Sarabjit failed to apply brakes and his vehicle collided with the truck.

The impact of the collision was such that Sarabjit died on the spot. The truck driver fled from the scene leaving the truck behind. A police team from Tibba police station reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. The deceased has left behind his wife and two children.

SHO Tibba Inspector Mohamad Jamil said the police have registered a case against unidentified truck driver under Section 304 of the IPC. “We have impounded the truck involved in the accident and efforts are on to trace the accused,” he said.
