5.50 lakh saplings to be planted in district

Amritsar, February 10

The state government will plant 5.50 lakh saplings as part of the year-long celebrations of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev in the district. A plantation drive was carried out at Khasa military cantonment on Sunday.

KS Pannu, mission director, Tandrust Punjab, launched the drive by planting a tree at Paleram Enclave followed by other army personnel. Among the dignitaries present included KS Sangha, DC, Amritsar and Ravinder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D), Col Bhatti (Retd) of Missionary Khudai Khidmatgaran.

NGOs of Amritsar led by Parkash Singh Bhatti of khuda-e-khidmatgar under the patronage of KS Pannu, district administration, commanders of Khassa and armored cantonments, Amritsar, will plant 5.50 lakh saplings in Army operational areas, villages, among others. —TNS
