A three-day Joginder Singh Mazan Open Punjab Football Tournament kicked off at the Khalsa College Senior Secondary School ground today. As many as 16 football teams from all over the state are participating in the tournament, which is being organised by the Khalsa Football Club in association with the school and its manangement.
Khalsa College Governing Council honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Sigh Chhina, who inaugurated the tournament, appreciated the efforts made by the football club to rejuvenate football.
He said the youth energy needed to be channelised properly through sport so that they do not fall in bad company.
Khalsa Club president Manwinder Singh, Principal Inderjit Singh Gagoani, councillor Gurpreet Mintoo, Manraj Chhina, staff and sportspersons were present in large numbers on day one of the tournament.
