Metro passengers want complaint boxes

Amritsar, February 9

The residents of the city as well as passengers have demanded the installation of complaint boxes and display of contact numbers of the authorities at stations of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) as some of them have had a bitter experience with the staff.

Naresh Johar, a passenger, said, “I had a bitter experience with the Metro bus staff yesterday. After boarding the bus from New Amritsar, when I alighted, the ticket scanner was not functional. I requested the BRTS employee on duty to open the side door so that I could go outside. He refused and entered into an argument.”

The passengers say there should be nameplates on every employee so that people can identify them easily.

“There should be a box or contact number displayed on the station to file a complaint about the staff, hygiene or any other issue,” said Jatinderpal Singh, a passenger.

“The service is good but if the authorities want to make it sustainable, they should get suggestions from the passengers to make it viable and comfortable. The suggestion/complaint box should be installed at every station,” said Naresh Johar.

The BRTS officials welcomed the suggestions and claimed that the staff was in the process of learning.

“We will take care of suggestions and complaints by the passengers and residents,” said the Metro bus service in charge.
