Srinagar, January 22
A teenager was injured in Srinagar’s old city on Tuesday, triggering tension in the area.
While the boy’s family alleged that a CRPF man had hit him in the head with a stone at Habba Kadal, the CRPF denied the charges.
The teenager, identified as Mohammad Younis, suffered head injuries and was shifted to a hospital.
The family said Younis had gone to buy vegetables.
“Minutes after he left, a CRPF man from a bunker hit him with stone,” said a family member.
Spokesman for the CRPF Sanjay Sharma said the boy was not hit by a stone.“A small group of youth threw stones at the bunker and when a CRPF man tried to find out what was happening, they fled. One of them slipped and got injured,” he said.
The incident triggered protests in the area. — TNS
