Kharar, January 22
Workers of the Punjabi Ekta Party staged a protest against the naib tehsildar in front of his office at Majri for allegedly seeking bribe to do revenue-related works. The protest was led by party’s district president Darshan Singh Dhaliwal.
They protesters demanded that the naib-tehsildar, Jaskaran Singh Brar, be immediately suspended. They also demanded a Vigilance inquiry against him.
Advocate Darshan Singh Dhaliwal said, “The naib- tehsildar is demanding money for issuing registration, mutation and marriage certificates. The district administration and higher officials are mum on the issue. The officer is not doing the registration work of various documents on the pretext of one reason or other.”
Naib-tehsildar Jaskaran Singh Brar refuted the allegations and said, “I am doing work according to the law. I am not harassing any one. The protesters wanted to pressurise for getting some illegal work done, which I will not allow.” — OC
