Kin attack Patiala woman for marrying against their wish

A 20-year-old woman was injured after being attacked by her own family members for marrying against their wish.

Amandeep Kaur, who belongs to Patiala, in her complaint to the police, stated that she got married to Jaswinder against the wish of her family around nine months ago and came to Ambala

On Wednesday, she was alone at the house when her mother Pramjeet Kaur, brothers Pradeep Singh and Jasmanpreet Singh, uncle’s son Kamaljeet, Kamaljeet’s friend Sukhdeep, uncle Kaka Singh and two unknown persons reached there and attacked her. She alleged that Kamaljeet stabbed her in the abdomen while Pradeep also inflicted injuries on her hand with a knife.

The woman said after hearing her screams, neighbours reached there following which the suspects managed to flee from the spot. The woman is undergoing treatment at the GMCH-32, Chandigarh.

The Ambala police have booked six persons - Paramjit Kaur, Kaka Singh, Pradeep Singh, Jasmanpreet Singh, Kamaljeet Singh and Sukhdeep Singh - under Sections 148, 149, 323, 324, 452 and 506 of the IPC in this regard.
