Faridabad, December 17
Farmers in six villages of the Ballabgarh subdivision are upset over delay in release of enhanced compensation to the tune of Rs 600 crore for acquisition of land for the Industrial Model Township (IMT).
The IMT Kisan Sangharsh Samiti threatened to cut off power supply to industrial units located in the IMT if their demand was not met within a week.
Ram Niwas Nagar, president of the samiti, said the HSIIDC had acquired land of 2,610 farmers in Chandawali, Machhghar, Newada, Tigaon, Mujheri and Sotai under the Ballabgarh subdivision for the IMT. He said 1,832 acres had been acquired in 2008 and in response to a petition filed by farmers, a court directed the state government in September 2014 to release enhanced compensation to affected farmers.
He said the total enhanced compensation withheld was around Rs 600 crore and efforts of the samiti to get the pending amount had failed to bear fruit despite an assurance by CM Manohar Lal Khattar.
“We got an assurance from the Chief Minister during his visit to Faridabad on June 16. More than six months have passed, but farmers are yet to get their due,” he said.
Meetings with the Additional Principal Secretary on October 28 and with the Faridabad ADC on October 31 failed to yield any result, he said.
“Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar has assured us that he will get the issue resolved within two or three days,” he added.
“Farmers will intensify their stir by cutting off power supply to industrial units of the IMT after a week if no action is taken by then,” Nagar warned. — TNS
