Ambala, December 17

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ambala, Monday awarded Rs 2 lakh each as compensation to the parents of a murdered man under the Haryana Victim Compensation Scheme.

Danish Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, said that the case was recommended for exploring the possibility of awarding compensation to the victims under the Haryana Victim Compensation Scheme by the court of Vikram Aggarwal, Sessions Judge.

He said that three persons had attacked Vikas and Rohit. Later, Rohit died and a case was registered at Mullana police station on June 28, 2016. After trial, accused Ranjit was held guilty under Sections 304 and 506 of the IPC and was sent to jail for 10 years, while accused Ramji Lal and Neeraj were held guilty under Sections 323 and 506 of the IPC on November 27 this year.

“The statements of Bharat Ram and Nirmala Devi (parents of the deceased) were recorded. It was apparent from the facts of the case that accused Ranjit murdered the son of the victims. The family income from all sources comes to be Rs 50,000 per annum, not exceeding Rs 4.5 lakh per annum, which is one of the conditions precedent for the payment of compensation under the Victim Compensation Scheme”, he added. The CJM said, “The victims have suffered a lot of agony and pain during all these years. They have received Rs 1 lakh from the government already.” — TNS
