9 flights delayed

Mohali: Nine flights were delayed at the airport in Mohali on Monday due to bad weather. Flights from Kolkata and Srinagar were delayed for over four hours, inconveniencing passengers. The flight from Kolkata, which was scheduled to arrive at 7.30 am at the local airport, landed at 12.02 pm. Similarly, the flight from Srinagar landed at 3.14 pm instead of its scheduled arrival time of 10.45 am. Besides, seven other flights from different destinations arrived late. According to sources, the delay was due to poor visibility. TNS

Sec 22 resident held for theft

Chandigarh: The police have arrested a resident of Sector 22 for stealing a laptop from a house. The complainant, Rajat Kumar, informed the police that his laptop was stolen from his house in Sector 22 on December 9. Later, the suspect, identified as Ankit Chandan, was arrested. A case has been registered. TNS

Minor girl abducted

Kharar: The police have registered a case under Sections 363 and 366-A of the IPC against Harmanraj Singh, a resident of Darpan City, Kharar, on Sunday on charge of abducting a minor girl of Kurali. The victim’s mother told the police that her 15-year-old girl studies in a school in Kharar. She left home around 10 am on December 4, but did not return home. The complainant alleged that the suspect had abducted the girl on the promise of marriage. OC

Man held with intoxicants

Kharar: The police have arrested Manish Kumar, a resident of New Swaraj Nagar, on Sunday following the recovery of 12 intoxicant injections from his possession. ASI Jaspal Singh was patrolling near the Gill road when the suspect was seen coming on a motorcycle bearing registration number PB07BD4579. On seeing the police party, the suspect tried to flee. However, the police managed to catch him. During checking, 12 intoxicant injections were recovered from his possession. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered. OC
