Mohali, November 13

The police today recovered the body of a woman, aged around 60 years, from her residence in Phase 1 here.

The deceased, identified as Narinder Kaur, was living with her husband Rajinder Singh, who did not inform anybody about her death, said the police, adding that the woman seemed to have died around 12 hours before they reached the house.

The police said the couple had lost three of their four children at different times. “Obviously, they were unwell after the repeated tragedies. Rajinder Singh apparently did not realise that his wife had passed away, so he did not inform anybody,” said the police.

The matter came to light when the couple’s daughter, who lives at Dera Bassi, informed the police that her mother was unwell and she was not getting treatment.

The police said Rajinder was not allowing them to enter the house but somehow they (police) managed to go inside only to find the woman lying. She was taken to the Civil Hospital in Phase 6 where doctors declared her dead. “The autopsy would be conducted tomorrow,” said the police.
